Easy Hummingbird Food Recipe

“I’ve been using this super easy recipe since last year when I found a hummingbird nest on a wind chime near my front door. Mommy Loved the nectar and fed it to her babies, Humm & Dinger. The babies loved returning to feed on this recipe after they left the nest”

INGREDIENTS :

SERVINGS 1

UNITS US
4 cups filtered water
1 cup regular white sugar (Organic if possible)

DIRECTIONS :

Boil the water first. Turn off the heat then add the sugar, stir to dissolve completely. Cool in the refrigerator until ready to use.
Place in a clean hummingbird feeder and hang outside for the birds.
Note:
Change a new batch of food from 3 to 5 days to keep it fresh. Don’t use food coloring.
Check the bird feeder regularly and every time you change the food to see if any gray mold has formed inside the feeder base, or, any ants have crawled inside to get at the sugar water.
If you see any take the feeder down and throw the bird food away. It’s not good for the birds to drink this. Chances are they won’t drink it anyway.
Rinsing the hummingbird feeder with warm water to clean. Then, put a few drops of bleach into the water inside the feeder and clean with a bottle brush. Dry completely. Fill up with new food and place outside for the loving bird!
