Black Bean Burgers Recipe

You’ll be addicted to this very Black Bean Burgers recipe, they were so easy to make, so yummy and filling even this is my first time to make them!  You definitely can get creative with your toppings too.

INGREDIENTS

  • 2 (14-ounce) cans black beans, rinsed and drained, divided
  • 3 tablespoons mayonnaise
  • 1/3 cup plain dry bread crumbs
  • 2 teaspoons ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano, crumbled
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped cilantro
  • 3 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 4 soft hamburger buns
  • Accompaniments: sour cream; salsa; lettuce

PREPARATION

Use a fork or a food processor to mash beans with mayonnaise, bread crumbs, cumin, oregano, and cayenne until a coarse purée forms. Add in cilantro and remaining can beans. Form mixture into 4 patties slightly larger than the buns you’re using.

Heat oil in a heavy skillet and heat the patties over medium-high until it shimmers, about 5minutes on each side, the outsides are crisp and lightly browned. Spread the buns with mayonnaise and hot sauce or anything desired, then place the patties on the buns.
