Best Lasagna Recipe

This is truly delicious and the best ever Lasagna Recipe. I love the Italian sausage in the sauce and mixture of ground beef. Rich, and cheesy as well. A sweet thing to make this on weekend for a special family get together!

  • 1½ lbs lean ground beef
  • ½ lb Italian sausage
  • 1 large onion, chopped
  • 4 garlic cloves, minced
  • ¼ teaspoon salt (or to taste)
  • 1 tablespoon dried parsley flakes
  • 1 tablespoon dried oregano
  • ½ fresh basil
  • 2 (14½ ounce) cans whole tomatoes, undrained and chopped
  • 2 (6 ounce) cans tomato paste
  • 24 ounces ricotta cheese or 24 ounces cottage cheese
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • ½ teaspoon pepper
  • 2 tablespoons parsley
  • ½ cup grated parmesan cheese
  • 1 lb mozzarella cheese, sliced or shredded
  • 12 -16 lasagna noodles
  1. Over medium high heat on a large pot, brown the ground beef, Italian sausage, onion, garlic and salt.
  2. Add the parsley flakes, dried oregano, 2 cans tomatoes, tomato paste, and fresh basil, stir well, cover and bring to a simmer for 1 hour.
  3. Meanwhile, cook lasagna noodles following to the package directions; drain and set aside.
  4. Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C). Spray a 13 x 9″ baking pan with cooking spray. Mix together ricotta cheese, eggs, pepper, 2 tablespoons parsley, and Parmesan cheese. In a lasagna pan, place a tablespoon of sauce on the bottom then layer noodles, meat sauce, cheese mixture, and mozzarella slices, repeat. Top off with layer of noodles; sprinkle evenly with remaining mozzarella cheese to cover the noodles completely.
  5. Bake  for 40-60 minutes or until the mixture is thoroughly melted. Allow to cool at least 20 minutes before serving.
